Rehabilitation following joint surgery

Many patients who have undergone major joint replacement surgery, struggle with everyday activities, and others do not know how to progress their rehabilitation following their discharge from hospital. Some patients do not know how little or much they should be doing, and others want to get back to a particular activity and need specific exercises to aid this return. Talking with a physiotherapist can often help them find that appropriate level of activity, adapt an activity, or progress their exercises so they are more suited to their individual needs. More often than not, physiotherapy can give patients the confidence they have lost as a result of the surgery.
